Honing Your Tennis Skills
Playing tennis is not that easy. There's more to hitting the Penn tennis balls. You have to acquire and hone skill on playing tennis. The most complicated skill you need to learn would be the tennis serve. Oftentimes, players have many problems in their serve. They use the forehand grip, looking down before hitting the ball, and using way too many muscles.
Put into your mind that a forehand grip is not as effective as the continental grip. The continental grip is one great versatile serve. You can start honing you serve with the use of a continental grip. You should start slowly considering that your wrist and arm are not used at this time. Just use about 25% speed for your serve. Get a grasp on your racket gently and focus on your feel. If you finally got the feel, increase your speed gradually.
Another thing you need to remember is that don't try too hard. Look at the good servers; they usually look effortless in their serve. Don't attempt to contract the muscles that are contradicting each other. It's just a waste of energy and time.
In improving your stroke, you need to add more fluid to your tennis serve motion. That is how you serve becomes more effective. Carefully swing at your ball. Make sure take the racket back and lift it into a throw-like position between the shoulder blades as you toss the ball up. Always keep your racket high. Be sure to position it away from your body. This movement will trigger your hitting thrust at the tennis ball. Remember, the farther the racquet is away from the ball, the better momentum you get to have. Learn to stabilize your front foot by putting your hips forward as you quickly move your weight over your bent knee. Hit the Penn tennis ball with all your might.
