Rules of Tennis- Private match?

In February I had a private tennis match with my friend. I beat him in straight sets: 9-7 6-1. However when my friend goes back to school (we were in the same school) he said that the match was invalid. He claimed that I did not use the tiebreaker at 6-all. I spent a few minutes to look for the rules of tennis and found that our match did not have to follow the ITF rules because this match was not sanctioned by ITF. It was also agreed upon the start of the match that all sets were to be played to a 2 game advantage after 6-all. Any thoughts?

The ITF Rulebook explicitly expose different manners in which to count points and it is left to the tournament organiser to choose how to apply them... In simpler terms, it is a perfectly legit counting system and is the genuine way to do it; tie breaks were introduce to limit increasingly long matches.

If you both agreed, it's a genuine victory. Also, if he lost 9-7; 6-1, there's very few to discredit exception made of his mediocre response to his tight lost in the first set.

He's stupid to bother about that.
