Does a tennis racquet that has a small head but big weight make an all-around sweet spot?
A friend told me before that if I had a racquet that's who's head size is around 95-100 square inches and weighs 315-up, the entire frame would be a sweet spot. Well, a least if you hit the ball right.
Totally untrue. A sweet spot only gets bigger in a couple cases, generally by using a larger headsize (i.e. 105+). For example, I use a Prince EXO3 Graphite 100 headsize which uses port grommets to add more ball pocketing (and thus more power) and also weighs in around the 330g (11.6 oz) area but even with all of that in mind the sweet spot is not "everywhere" on the racquet head.
When you look at what the sweet spot is which is the area on the racquet which allows you the most ball pocketing thus allowing the most forgiveness to shock, the highest power output, and the greatest access to spin there is no way for that area to exist on the greatest percentage of the racquet's face.
So, long story short, no, there is no magical combination that makes your sweet spot bigger. Without incorporating different racquet technologies that are made specifically to enhance the size of the sweet spot the rule of thumb will always be that the sweet spot only gets smaller with the headsize. That's why beginners aren't using 95's and below because there's no benefit in it unless they already have too much power.
