What are some drills to help with with tennis...?
I haven't played tennis since the season ended, (about three months ago...) and I wasn't that good to start with anyway. I'm going to a tennis camp tomorrow and I just want some help improving my forehand, backhand, and serve before I go down there tomorrow so I wont be embarrassed. So if you know any articles, videos, drills, or just any tips on here would help me tons~ Thank you in advance for anyone that answers!!!!!(:
My coach always made us aim on the court to one place and hit the ball there 20 times or we had to run. Try setting a goal for yourself and don't give up until you reach it. To help forehands/backhands just make sure when you backswing the racket starts down and as you hit the ball swing it up and you should end with the racket by your shoulder. Remember to also give yourself space to extend your arm all the way to hit the ball and don't try to hit with your arm too close to your side or else it will be a terrible hit, and watch the ball until it touches the racket. For serving it helps to have a routine before you start to help you be consistent. If you start by doing the same thing, it will teach you to do the same thing as you serve so that your serve will end up being perfect every time. I usually bounce the ball on the ground twice and my friend spins her racket in her hand. Also, for serving, take your time. If you rush through it the serve will be horrible. Take a breath, focus on where you want the ball to land when you serve, and don't rush through the technique. When you serve start with the racket out in front of you, toss the ball and rotate you're arm back behind you and up (like in a circle), hit the ball when your racket is straight up in the air, and follow through as if completing the circle. It should all be a fluid motion and feel very natural. Sorry I typed so much haha but I hope this kind of helped. Don't give up if you fail the first time! Have fun at tennis camp! (:
