Fitness and tennis??????????
Right now I am a decent tennis player who is looking to get better. I have been playing for roughly a year and play counter singles on my Varsity high school team. I was wondering will losing body fat effect how I play on the court. Right now im not like obese but I would consider my self pretty chubby lol. The only reason I have been doing good is because I have extremely good lateral movement on the court and can track down any ball that is hit.
The extra fat you are carrying does not help you in any way. Over the course of a long match it will wear you down more than if it were not there. Try playing a match while wearing a 20 lb. backpack. That is the same as being 20 lbs. overweight. You'll find that your lateral movement will diminish and you won't be able to reach the wide shots in the third set of your matches.
