Tips for playing doubles(tennis)?????
Can someone give me some good strategy/tips for playing tennis doubles?? Thanks all!
The biggest key to successful at doubles is to control the net, to have both players at net. It is very difficult to hit winners when both opponents are at the net.
To control the net you also must have an awareness of where you partner is and help them when they need it. For instance you should move over more towards the center if you partner is going after a ball that is hit at a wide angel, this prevents a hole where your opponent can hit an easy winner.
My tennis coach once told me that my doubles partner and I should act as if we had a rope tied to our waist and move together accordingly. When you watch a great doubles team it is like well choreographed dance where they move together.
Also another hint is hit toward the middle of the court more unless you are going for a winner, this will make it hard for the other team to hit a winner against you.
As you play more and you become more comfortable with you partner you can learn to poach.
Good look and practice lots of volleys.

Annoying doubles partner?
I'm in JV tennis and my partner and I are both freshman. I love tennis, and I really want to try to win every match. But today in the 8 game proset, we lost 8-2.
I'm upset about the loss for 2 reasons:
1. Me and my partner were #4 doubles, but we played #3 doubles, making it unfair for us. (And it was obvious that they did this on purpose)
2. My partner doesn't care. She has a bio test tommorow, so when we were losing, she wanted to throw the match so she could go home to study. She isn't serious and whenever I try to tell her about strategy, she doesn't listen.I don't get what to do HELP

tactics for tennis matches?
Hi, I am 14 years old and I have a tennis competition tomorrow and I would like to get some tactics to help me play better tomorrow.
The matches are first to 2 short sets. 4-4 tiebreak
My serve is pretty good, and my forehand, backhand and netplay are decent.
So can I have some tips please.

Like the other two answerers have said its all about knowing your opponents game. Somethings I can say are that the obvious tactics work, Big hitters = keep the ball in, slow guys = move them, fast guys bring them to the net to take away the running aspect to an extent. All about knowing what your playing though, junk balling against better players can sometimes get you a win if you know your gonna lose its not bad tactic if you dont think you can beat them for a nice fluke win.
