Table Tennis Tips for Beginners
So, you have purchased new ping-pong equipment, you have watched several videos for help with your technique, and you have attended competitions to learn as much as you can from watching better players. What happens when you play your first competition? Does everything fall into place, or does it just fall apart?
No matter how many table tennis tips you get as a beginner, you may find that everything just flies out the window when you are facing your first serious opponent. It is actually quite normal and natural, even when you have all of your swing techniques down. The problem is that you have played table tennis in a controlled environment, and now you are facing the skills and techniques of someone entirely new.
Of course, nerves can also have a lot to do with it. During your warm up time, you should be sure to take plenty of cleansing breaths to keep your head clear and focused. Nerves can wreak havoc on any game, no matter how experienced the player. Keep in mind that your opponent is probably nervous, too, but he or she may have more experience with working through those nerves.
When you're standing at the ready and waiting for the serve, call up all of your table tennis tips, including the swings and returns that you have learned, and run through everything one more time. Keeping all of your attacks and returns in mind just before beginning will make it easier to call upon them when you need them during the game. Shake things up a bit, and use different combinations of your hits during the game.
Just remember, too, that everyone must start somewhere. You have to decide if you are going to play it safe or be aggressive, and you should practice that way at all times. Your playing style shouldn't change once you are in front of your opponent, so be sure that you are comfortable with the techniques that you have chosen. You can change your tactics according to who is in control, but trying to change your style can be detrimental.
No matter how many tournaments you have played, it is important to always return to basics. Keep an eye out for new table tennis tips at all times, and even order training videos and books to keep on top of your game. If you are serious about playing table tennis, then you should never stop learning.

The Racket $7.99 The Racket |

What cheap badminton racquets are available for a beginner on a high school team?
I am in a high school badminton team but am just a beginner. I need a racket but don't know which one to choose. I have borrowed one from my friend for practice this week (Wilson TI Power) but he needs it back. I got a set form Big5 with 2 rackets (Wilson TI Pro) and shuttlecocks, however I am suspicious that I got this set for $20 and a Wilson TI Power is $20 by itself. I can't find information on the rackets that i bought, on the Internet, and I want to return them. However, I am pressured by my parents to get a cheap racket and they believe the ones I have are good enough. So basically, Are the rackets I got adequate for high school games?, and if not, What should get that I could afford and how should I convince my parents?
For beginner level, rackets that you find in any brand-name store that cost less than $30 are fine. This is because those rackets are cheap and fine to play with. However, if you become serious about the sport, you'll want to get a good racket, which generally costs over $70. Top-of-the-line rackets are over $200.
So don't worry about the racket you have right now. It's completely fine for a beginner level player and a better racket wouldn't do you much good at your level of skill.
Hope this helps!

Doubles $15.95 Slow Smith is in a slump. He's a professional tennis player stuck in his hometown, serving to an empty court. His wife is in a coma and he's afraid he's to blame. Left behind are her Polaroids, obsessive daily records of their life together. Meanwhile Kaz, Slow's lifelong doubles partner, is traveling the world while playing with someone new. Then one afternoon his old coach Manny appears in a dumpy Fiat convertible and persuades Slow to get in. When they return to Forest Hills -- the site of a six-year winning streak -- they reunite with old friends who call up long-buried desires and reveal a secret that threatens to destroy Slow's marriage as well as his friendship with Kaz. Slow just can't win -- and especially not back on the court. Turns out Kaz can't either. Theirs is a bond driven as much by odd habits as by shared life experiences -- a marriage not unlike the one rendered comatose -- and the only way to get their lives back on track is by playing together again. At once hilarious and heartbreaking, Doubles serves up a tale of melancholy and redemption -- both on the court and off. |

is doubles tennis a tougher game than singles?
that's what i feel. and that's why i rate guys like the woodies, bryan brothers and leander paes really high. what say guys?
Doubles is all about working the net while singles is more from the baseline. One might prefer doubles over singles because in doubles one does not have to work as hard, or one might like singles more because one is a one-man team.
Although I find both fun, I am better at singles. xD

These serving, backboard, and racket-handling drills can be expanded for partner and group practices and are a great way to improve skills between competitive matches. The perfect partner for the solo practicer, backboards can be used to improve your serve, forehand, backhand, approach shots, lobs, overhead smashes, and much more. They simulate rallies better than ball machines, and they can benefit any level of player because you're always practicing at your own pace. Backboard Tennis shows you how an ordinary wall can be your ticket to more beneficial practices and a better tennis game. About the Author The United States Tennis Association (USTA) is the governing body for tennis in the United States. The USTA's membership consists of more than 500,000 individuals and nearly 6,500 organizations, including schools, park and recreation departments or community tennis associations, and tennis clubs. The USTA is widely known as the owner and operator of the U.S. Open Championships, one of the four Grand Slam tournaments in worldwide tennis competition. The U.S. Open annually attracts more than a half-million fans, awards more than $9 million in prize money, and is broadcast on television to 125 countries. The USTA also sponsors amateur tennis competition for players of all ages and abilities, ranging from events for children 12 and under to national tournaments for those 65 and older. More than 5 million schoolchildren are introduced to tennis each year through USTA school programs, and opportunities for further instruction and play are provided by a menu of USTA entry-level programs. A full range of player development, sport science, and youth tennis programs is offered at the USTA training facility in Key Biscayne, FL, at 120 Area Training Centers spread throughout the country, and through local Excellence Training Programs. In addition, the USTA emphasizes coaching education and development through an ambitious offering of coaching seminars, workshops, and conferences. |

Ideas for Your Outdoor Playground
When designing an outdoor playground for schools there are many options of things to include. Ideally there should be a good balance between fun things for kids to do and ample space for them to rest.
1. Adventure trail equipment:
When I was a kid there was nothing that I enjoyed more than obstacle courses. From stepping snakes to rope walks to tire walks they always made fun challenges.
2. Wadding pools:
Wadding pools aren't only for the summer, biking along the interior can be fun all year long. While they are very shallow and only really suitable for small kids, they are still a great way to cool off on those extremely hot days. Supervising adults can leave their feet in while they watch.
3. Basketball net:
You don't need an entire outdoor court, just a net mounted on a brick wall. Kids can play alone or with a friend. One on one is always fun as are games like HORSE and 21. If you paint a big square on the wall it can be used as a tennis backboard or even act as a football net.
4. Social areas:
It is always important to include an area where kids can rest, eat their lunch or chat out of the sun. Gazebos are a great place for people to meet and relax, and large shelters can be used for outdoor teaching sessions.
5. Swings:
Another place to take a break and catch up with a friend is on the swings. Children can get competitive by seeing who can swing the highest or jump off in the most creative way, or they can just drag their feet along the ground while they chit chat with their mate.
6. Planters:
Building areas where children can plant and nurture their own little ecosystems is a wonderful way to teach them about the environment. Teachers can get it started by using class time to take their students outside and teach them about vegetation. After that, the plant can be the responsibility of the child, where they'll have to water it, bud it, and make sure it gets enough light.
7. Slides and jungle gyms:
We mustn't forget the classic way to have fun on the playground, and that's via the slide, tower, bridge, and net ladders. This was where I learnt balance and bravery, it's where my parents learnt them and it's where your child will learn them too.
What will you include in your playground design?
