When will we get the full schedule (who's playing whom in the opening matches) of tennis US Open 2010 finals?
Not for quite awhile. The draw for Grand Slams doesn't come out until the Friday before they begin so in this case that would be August 27th. The seeds come out the Monday before that, so we'll know who MIGHT play each other in the quarterfinals/semi-finals perhaps from those. For example, if Roger Federer drops out of the top 4 before the Open makes it seeds, which is possible, we'll know if the U.S. Open decided to seed him in the top 4 even though he wouldn't reside there in the rankings. If the Open did decide to do something like that then that would eliminate the possibility of an inconceivable quarterfinal clash between Rafael Nadal and Federer.

Spain's Valencia & the Levante $8.99 When Spaniards speak of the Levante they refer to that long and narrow strip on the eastern Mediterranean coast claimed by the autonomous regions of Valencia and Murcia south of it. In this "land of the rising sun" the coastline, over 500 km (312 miles) of it, is a shared sight with the mountains rising in the interior. To the northwest the Iberian chain enters the region, bearing southeast toward the sea where the Turía and Mijares rivers end their journeys, while in the south the Beticos chain encroaches from Andalucía in its own march east to the coast. It is the thriving agricultural industry of the moist lowlands that has earned Valencia the reputation as Spain's garden. Utilizing a highly extensive and effective irrigation system of waterwheels and drainage ditches created by the Moors during their occupation from the eighth to the 13th centuries, farmers grow vast quantities of fruits and vegetables. To the famed Valenciano orange add the rice patties that have shaped the region's cuisine and the bustling tourist cities of the coast that have played havoc with its natural beauty but fostered one of the healthiest economies in Spain. The bulk of the region's population has gravitated to these coastal towns. Adventure sports are, not surprisingly, water-based in the Levante, though two of the European long-distance hiking routes transect the inner lands and a slew of protected natural areas ranging from limestone crags to salt flats and lagoons add to the outdoor options. As the Levante is a staging ground for many of Spain's most colorful and exuberant festivals, a visit here should be timed so as not to miss the flaming beauty of Valencia's Las Fallas in March or Alcoi's mock battle of the Moors and Christians in April. During its long spring, the Levant is alive with sun-loving people celebrating the coming of summer, with blooming citrus trees and with only a handful of cloudy days. Every detail is here for the traveler - where to stay, where to eat, entertainment, activities of all kinds, from hiking to canoeing, concerts to festivals. An extensive section on what you need to know when traveling to Spain in general, plus a language and Spanish vocabulary chapter is included. "A great new resource." -- Travel + Leisure. "The perfect companion for planning." -- Rutgers Magazine. "These useful travel guides are highly recommended..." -- Library Journal |

Tennis $10.39 Success continued to elude Chris Rea on his third album, Tennis, on which he began to experiment with slightly longer songs and more free-form jamming, the songs "Every Time I See You Smile," "Stick It," and the title track all being over five minutes long. For Tennis, he enlisted the assistance of Raphael Ravenscroft on saxophone fresh from his crowning moment on the Gerry Rafferty "Baker Street" single and Pete Wingfield on keyboards, among many other musicians to contribute to this album, but Chris Rea himself stamped his personal mark on the album, writing all the songs, providing vocals, guitar, and keyboards, and he even dispensed with the need for an outside producer. Hence the Elton John feel of his Gus Dudgeon-produced previous album, Deltics was gone, aside from on the ballad "Every Time I See You Smile," and it was replaced by a variety of styles including the horn-driven "Forever and Ever," the gospel song "Stick It" that closed the album, and the reggae-tinged, guitar-led instrumental "Friends Across the Water." The title track and album opener began with a riff that was reminiscent of Ace's "How Long," and the song structure itself was not dissimilar to 10cc's "Dreadlock Holiday" although far less commercial with its chorus repeating "Do you like tennis?....yes I do." The intro of "Sweet Kiss" was a brooding bassline and Rea used this style to build many of the tracks from a quiet start to a soulful crescendo. Several of the songs on Tennis had excellent melodies including "Since I Don't See You Anymore," "Dancing Girls," and the final track "Stick It" which, had it been recorded by Billy Joel at this time, would no doubt have been a hit. With hindsight, knowing how big Chris Rea became, it was amazing that this album failed to find its niche in the very early '80s and climbed no higher than number 60 in the charts, although there were no killer commercial singles on it, indeed no hit singles at all, and albums appeared to need this prerequisite at that time. A few years earlier during the era of prog rock, singles were totally superfluous to a rock album's degree of success. Even the cover was interesting with hundreds of tennis courts fading into the distant sunset. ~ Sharon Mawer, Rovi |

Bjorn Borg, Chris Evert win at 1976 Wimbledon tennis tournament
Tennis is one of the sports that bring players from all around the world together to test their talents. While there are some countries in which tennis is more popular than others, the tournaments span the globe and attract people from many different countries.
One of the most popular tournaments in the world is Wimbledon. Wimbledon is considered to be a Grand Slam Tournament. There are four Grand Slam Tournaments, but Wimbledon may be the most prestigious of the tournaments.
The 90th Wimbledon Championships were played in 1976. The tournament takes place in London, England in the United Kingdom.
The most prestigious event to win at Wimbledon is without doubt the Men's singles tournament. This tournament features the most speed, power and skill of any of the tournaments that take place at Wimbledon. The next most popular event is the Women's singles event. From here there are events such as Men's doubles, Women's doubles and mixed doubles in the seniors section. These events are exciting to win and may be the highlight of a career for some players. In the end, the singles tournaments are more prestigious, however.
There are two other tournaments in the event, the Boys' singles and the Girls' singles tournaments. These tournaments are under the Juniors section of Wimbledon and they often feature the up and coming players in the tennis world.
The Men's tournament came down to Bjorn Borg and Illie Nastase. These players had a solid final match in the tournament. Borg took the first two sets with relative ease, winning 6-4, 6-2, but after that Nastase wouldn't let go. They had to go to tiebreaker points before Borg took the victory with a 9-7 set win.
The Women's singles event came down to two very prominent names: Chris Evert and Evonne Goolagoong Cawley. These players had one of the great final matchups in Wimbledon history. Evert started off ahead, winning the first set 6-3. Goolagong Cawley came back with a 6-4 win in the 2nd set to force a 3rd set in the finals. The 3rd set went to tiebreaker points as neither player could put away their opponent. Evert eventually came out on top with an 8-6 victory over Goolagong Cawley.
The Men's doubles tournament final featured Brian Gottfriend and Raul Ramirez against Ross Case and Geoff Masters. Masters and Case started off ahead, winning 6-3 in the first set. Gottfried and Ramirez stormed back to win two sets in a row by scores of 6-3 and 8-6. Case and Masters managed to regain momentum in the next set, evening the match with a 6-2 set victory. The final set was another great one, but Gottfried and Ramirez came out on top 7-5.
Evert was the champion of the tournament as she managed to win the Women's singles, and she also won the Women's doubles tournament with Martina Navratilova at her side. They took out Billie Jean King and Betty Stove in 3 sets.
The Mixed doubles event was won by Francoise Durr and Tony Roche. The Juniors tournaments were won by Heinz Gunthardt and Natasha Chmyreva.
