Movement Training For Tennis Video (Copyright 1990) (VHS) $31.95 How can players set themselves up to hit perfect returns like the pros? Let Jack Groppel, Lynne Rolley, Stan Smith, and Nick Saviano show you in Movement Training for Tennis. Developed through the expertise of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Sport Science Committee, this video presents a progression of drills to help players at any level add explosive movement to their game. World-renowned tennis coach Dr. Jack Groppel enlists the aid of USTA tennis experts to show coaches, instructors, and players how reaction time and movement time result in explosive speed. This concept involves the player's seeing the ball off the opponent's racket (reaction time), adding an immediate split-step toward the ball (movement time), and completing the execution of the shot with a rapid release of energy (explosive movement). In Part I of this video, players start off with warm-up drills to prevent injury. Next, there's a progression of sport-specific drills designed to help players improve shot anticipation, initial take-off, footwork, body position, and recovery time after hitting the shot. Players will progress from short speed drills to more complex drills that incorporate lateral and horizontal movements. In Part II, the unique sliding techniques required to play effectively on clay is demonstrated. Players will learn how to step into the slide before executing the stroke, how to recover after the shot, and how to maintain balance throughout. Movement Training for Tennis is a valuable tool in helping players use movement to stay on top of their opponents' shots during match play and get the winning edge. About the Author The United States Tennis Association (USTA) is the governing body for tennis in the United States. The USTA's membership consists of more than 500,000 individuals and nearly 6,500 organizations, including schools, park and recreation departments or community tennis associations, and tennis clubs. The USTA is widely known as the owner and operator of the U.S. Open Championships, one of the four Grand Slam tournaments in worldwide tennis competition. The U.S. Open annually attracts more than a half-million fans, awards more than $9 million in prize money, and is broadcast on television to 125 countries. The USTA also sponsors amateur tennis competition for players of all ages and abilities, ranging from events for children 12 and under to national tournaments for those 65 and older. Sports Related Injuries Respond Well To Chiropractic
Does anyone want to play tennis? No thanks, my lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow) is acting up. Would you prefer golf? No thanks, my musculoligamentous injury (lower back strain) is acting up. What about if we take a pleasant walk? No thanks, my prepatellar bursa (inflamed knee) is acting up.
You have tried ice packs, heating pads, and pain medications. Before one opts to undergo surgery, one should consider using a chiropractor. A chiropractor takes a holistic approach to your health care, focusing on your entire body, not only your pain. Chiropractics is derived from two Greek words "cheir" (hand) and "praktos" (done), for the meaning "done by hand". In 1895, Daniel David Palmer first combined the various forms of physical manipulation with the scientific study of anatomy.
Since then, this done by hand approach to medicine has grown to more than 60,000 practitioners in the United States alone, valued for its focus on total health rather than immediate relief of symptoms through medication. For your tennis elbow, your doctor may recommend over-the-counter medications. If that does not work, he may recommend corticosteroid shots. If that does not work, he may send you to a surgeon to sever and reattach the tendon.
A sports injury specialist, on the other hand, will search for the cause of the pain. In most cases, the cause is muscular, with the body redirecting the function of one muscle to another muscle in order to compensation for the true source of the pain. Exercise and manipulation, properly administered by a trained sports injury specialist will provide relief without the dangerous side effects of steroids or the scars of surgery.
For your lower back strain, your doctor may recommend bed rest. If that does not work, he may recommend carbamazepine (a seizure medication) or amitriptyline (an antidepressant). If that does not work, he may send you to a surgeon for endoscopic disc repair. A certified physical therapist, on the other hand, will recommend a series of regular exercises to strengthen the muscles of your lower back.
According to the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics, "A higher proportion of chiropractic patients (56 percent versus 13percent) reported that their low-back pain was better or much better, whereas nearly one-third of medical patients reported their low-back pain was worse or much worse."
For your inflamed knee, your doctor may again recommend over-the-counter medications and corticosteroid shots. However, acupuncture may provide the relief you seek. This 3000-year old Chinese art gained credibility in the western world in 1997 when the National Institutes of Health recognized it as an acceptable practice.
Acupuncture involves the insertion of extremely thin needles into certain pressure points throughout the body. When properly performed by a certified acupuncturist, this treatment is a safe, holistic method to reduce your pain without harming the rest of your body. Regardless of your choice of treatment, you can be certain that your chiropractor will take into account your whole body, and will provide hands-on treatment aimed at the source of your pain, not simply its symptoms.

Ballroom Dance Shoes
Ballroom dancing is more popular than ever. For one thing, there is a popular television show, "Dancing with the Stars," millions of people tune to so that they can watch the ballroom dancing pros team up with the celebrities. Everyone looks gorgeous and the costumes are elaborately constructed. Flowing gowns, feathers, ruffles, bare midriffs, sparkles, and bangles, the costumes make or break the performance. Each costume is not complete without the perfect pair of dancing shoe to complement the look. Anyone watching can’t help but wonder how do the ladies dance in the high heels? The answer is that these shoes are specially constructed to provide comfort and support for the dancers. Men’s and women’s shoes alike are made to be attractive as well as functional. A good pair of ballroom dance shoes should be light as a feather, have proper cushioning for the sole and suede soles on the bottom.
Swing dance clubs are cropping up across the country, and enthusiastic dancers of all ages enjoy an evening out with friends and jive music. The clothes are fun, and there are dancing shoes to compliment each outfit while being comfortable enough to allow the dancers to dance the night away. Proper ballroom dance shoes are essential when dancing those small steps.
Salsa is a hot dance reminding everyone of Mambo. Many people join salsa dancing clubs and travel around to meet other clubs from nearby areas to perform at schools and clubhouses. The costumes are sexy and beautiful. Every salsa dancer needs a pair of salsa dance shoes to compliment and be supportive enough to make those provocative moves. The suede soles allow the ladies to spin and keep their footing.
Ballroom dancing, Swing, Salsa or Smooth, is a popular way to stay in shape. Classes are being offered at private dance schools and fitness clubs in nearly every city in the nation. What better way to show-off all those hours of practicing in these classes than to invest in a costume and dance shoes. You'll notice an immediate difference in energy!
Feed your cells!
If you feel run down and extreme fatigue often or just sometimes, this may be a sure sign that the cells in your body are not receiving enough nutrients. Colour Terms in the Old Testament $150 The OT semantic field of 'colour' is presented as a coherent, interdependent, and graded linguistic structure. The relevant lexical items are organized under the following categories: primary (basic) terms; secondary and tertiary terms; terms for pigments, dyes, painting and paints; and terms for stains, speckles, and other phenomena related to colour. Proper names, and names of objects which carry 'colour' associations are discussed as well. Many OT texts are discussed in detail. Finally, the OT colour field is compared to its Mishnaic Hebrew counterpart, and an Appendix dealing with the renewal of the same lexical sector within modern spoken Hebrew brings the study up to the present. |

20yo mare with bowed front fetlocks?
Ok. We just took in a new mare. She's a mess looking at her just makes me cringe. Besides just basic neglect she has old scaring on both front legs about the size of a tennis ball on the front part of the legs she is also rather bowed I guess the term would be. She doesn't seem lame but I wanted to see if any type of corrective shoes or braces can be used maybe?I've only seen one other horse with this problem tear ago but to the back legs he was so bad his touched the ground and the owner still rode him it hurt just watching.
The first thing you need to do is determine if these scars are what is causing the other issues with her legs. If they are, there isn't much you can do about scar tissue (although I've heard that massage helps break it up, but I don't know how much truth there is to that).
I'm sure you've already had the vet out or are going to very soon. Talk to him about options for your mare (I doubt that braces are an option). If he things something can be done as far as corrective shoeing goes, he can recommend a farrier.
Just from your description, it doesn't look good. She's older and she's been through a lot. You need to prepare for the fact that she might always be crippled and that you may never be able to ride her. This doesn't mean she won't make a perfectly good pasture pet.
