do u think victoria azarenka and caroline wozniacki will be the next big rivarly in women's tennis?
well some of u may know victoria is my favorite female tennis player after sharapova but they played in the finals with azarenka coming up with the victory....they have two different games azarenka is more powerful and and a hard hitter and more offensive game where wozniacki has more control and likes to run down balls...so do u think this will become a big rivalry..azarenka will be ranked 11th and idk about caroline prolly in the top 10 but do u think this will be a upcoming excited rivarly between the two teens?
No. They both undoubtedly have a lot of potential, but I don't ever see them being the two best in the world. I don't see the Williams sisters, Jankovic, Safina, Ivanovic (despite her struggles), Dementieva, or Sharapova (when she comes back) falling out of the top 10. I think they will both be top 10 players by next year (probably replacing Zvonareva, Radwanska, or Kuznetsova) but I don't see them being the best. For it to be a great rivalry, the two players need to be at the top of the game.
Think about the best rivlaries over the past couple years.
Henin (#1) vs. Serena (always claims to be #1 and one of the best in history)
Serena vs. Venus (even if they aren't ranked at the top, they can beat anyone on anyday)
Sharapova vs. Henin, Serena, or Venus
And for the record, I think Azarenka will have a better career than Wozniacki. She has much more firepower and her backhand is already so good. I see Wozniacki as a Jankovic type player, someone who gets everthing back and is annoying to play against, but will ultimately lose to the big hitters.

Could I become a profesional tennis player?
I am 15, and have have been playing for about 15 months. I train 2 hours a day on fitness and play tennis 4 days a week for about 4 hours. I know i started out old, but i play advanced fixtures and havent lost a game. My coach says a have a tremendess amount of natural talent and ill be entering alot of tournaments very shortly. I am in grade 10 and thinking about quiting school at the end of year 11 depending how good i am by the end of next year. What are the chances???
That seems awfully hasty to me.
Consider, realistically, what would happen if you were not able to make it as a professional, not because of your talent, just because of circumstances. To be a professional athlete, you have to make impressions on the right people and get exposure in the right places. Sometimes it just doesn't happen.
Also, since you've only been playing for a short time, how can you absolutely sure that this is what you want to devote your life to? What if your tastes change down the road? As a pro, you're committing yourself to play tennis every day until you're 35 or so.
Ask yourself what you would do if your plan to become a pro never happened. You wouldn't have a high school diploma. Do you have any other skills or talents? Do you have grades that are good enough to get into college? In other words, what's your fall-back plan so that you don't leave yourself high and dry?
I'm not trying to dissuade you, but I think it would be a smart idea to carefully examine all of the possibilities.

Learning Table Tennis by Using a Video
Table tennis, playfully called Ping Pong, is an exciting sport that can be difficult, but rewarding to play. In table tennis, players, typically one on one, or pair against pair, score by keeping a hollow ball air bound. They do this by hitting the ball with their paddles from one opponent's side to the other, allowing the ball to bounce on the table or against the back of their rackets. If the ball is not hit while it is in the capacity of one team to hit it, points may be awarded to the opposing team.
Skill in table tennis comes from a player's ability to hit the ball at high speeds, and to give it a spin that can make its trajectory difficult to estimate. By combining a spin on the ball, high speeds, and knowledge of the opponent's weak spot, the best table tennis players can win their matches, sometimes by virtue of tiring their opponents out.
If you are interested in learning table tennis, studying the physics behind it, or training to be a skilled professional player, you will need to see the sport being played. Competitions, however, are rare, and can be difficult to go to if you do not have the time or money to watch a table tennis game. As a result, several companies have developed training videos designed to teach the game at different levels.
A table tennis video offers you the opportunity to learn the physics of the sport, as well as to apply this knowledge in training. A table tennis video will be able to give you information on the following aspects of table tennis.
• The table tennis racket may appear to simply be a paddle with two rubber sides, but its construction greatly affects the outcome of a game. A table tennis video will introduce you to the different kinds of mats or rubber sheets that you can attach to your racket, also known as the bat. By customizing your bat, you can select the surfaces that provide the best spin and speed that you want your ball to have.
• The racket surface is not the only determinant of a ball's speed and trajectory. How you hold the bat can also be important, and a table tennis video will show the various ways by which you can hold your bat. For instance, the pen hold method allows you to grip the bat the way you would hold a pen. This gives you great control over your racket, although you will have to train yourself to spin your bat easily should you need to use the other side of it. Other grips include the shake hand and the V-grip, both of which have their own advantages and disadvantages.
A table tennis video will show you how these grips can change the outcome of the game. Although a good grip alone will not let you win, you will need to find a grip with which you are comfortable before you can play table tennis.
• A table tennis video will also show you how to carry out footwork, maintain your balance, and keep a good table tennis posture. While watching the video, you should practice moving, so that you can warm yourself up for the game.
• A table tennis video will also explain the rules of the game, as well as modifications to the rules that are used in different countries.
Table tennis is a sport that can be more exciting to play if you know the physics, history, and rules of it. Whether you are studying the sport as a student, or as a prospective player, a table tennis video may help you in realizing your goals.

How are levels in Tennis determined?
When I was looking at raquets, I saw that one said
"Excellent choice for 2.0-4.0 level players"
what does the '2.0' mean?
and how are they determined?
Again, here is the official guide line on rating.
1.0 This player is just starting to play tennis.
1.5 This player has limited experience and is still working primarily on getting the ball into play.
2.0 This player needs on-court experience. This player has obvious stroke weaknesses but is familiar with basic positions for singles and doubles play.
2.5 This player is learning to judge where the ball is going, although court coverage is weak. Can sustain a short rally of slow pace with other players of the same ability.
3.0 This player is fairly consistent when hitting medium-paced shots, but is not comfortable with all strokes and lacks execution when trying for directional control, depth, or power. Most common doubles formation is one up, one back.
3.5 This player has achieved improved stroke dependability with directional control on moderate shots, but still lacks depth and variety. This player exhibits more aggressive net play, has improved court coverage, and is developing teamwork in doubles.
4.0 This player has dependable strokes, including directional control and depth on both forehand and backhand sides on moderate shots, plus the ability to use lobs, overheads, approach shots, and volleys with some success. This player occasionally forces errors when serving. Rallies may be lost due to impatience. Teamwork in doubles is evident.
4.5 This player has begun to master the use of power and spins and is beginning to handle pace, has sound footwork, can control depth of shots, and is beginning to vary game plan according to opponents. This player can hit first serves with power and accuracy and place the second serve. This player tends to overhit on difficult shots. ggressive net play is common in doubles.
5.0 This player has good shot anticipation and frequently has an outstanding shot or attribute around which a game may be structured. This player can regularly hit winners or force errors off of short balls and can put away volleys, can successfully execute lobs, drop shots, half volleys, overhead smashes, and has good depth and spin on most second serves.
5.5 This player has developed power and/or consistency as a major weapon. This player can vary strategies and styles of play in a competitive situation and hits dependable shots in a stress situation.
6.0 to 7.0 The 6.0 player typically has had intensive training for national tournament competition at the junior and collegiate levels and has obtained a sectional and/or national ranking.
The 6.5 and 7.0 are world-class players.

Competitive Tennis $23.55 Competitive Tennis Brett Schwartz, Chris Dazet. Copyright 1998. 272pp. Golfers and bowlers have always looked at their handicaps to see where they ranked with competitors and to track their own improvement. But for you and the millions of other tennis players, there has never been a universal, systematic method for gauging yourself against others or for tracking improvement. There is now-the National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP). The NTRP guidelines in Competitive Tennis will help you gauge your present playing level, determine the specific skills you need to improve, and coach you to climb up the rungs of the rating programs ladder. Geared toward improving skills and technique in both singles and doubles play, Competitive Tennis contains 56 drills designed to help players progress to the next NTRP level. The NTRP ladder goes from the beginning 2.5 level to the intermediate 3.0 and 3.5 levels to the advanced 4.0 and 4.5 levels to the superior level of 5.0, just a few notches below the players on the pro circuit. There are two ways to put the NTRP system to use: 1. You can unofficially rank yourself and track your own progress by using the rating criteria described in Competitive Tennis; or 2. You can visit a USTA-certified verifier at a designated site who will watch you play and give you an official rank. This enables you to play in an official USTA league or tournament and be matched up only against players of your own skill level. All of this information, including how to contact the USTA, is included in Competitive Tennis. Each chapter in Competitive Tennis is devoted to one specific playing level, so as your game improves, you move on to the next chapter. The structure of each chapter is as follows: 1. NTRP Guidelines helps readers identify their playing level and the playing characteristics associated with it. 2. Objectives identifies the skills readers need to develop in order to improve their game. 3. Keys to Success outlines the shots and skills readers need to be successful at that level. 4. Practice Drills provides practice drills for both singles and doubles play that develop the skills, shots, and strategies covered in the Objectives and Keys to Success. 5. Quick Tips lists problems common at each level and the solutions readers should consider. Additionally, Competitive Tennis contains 110 photos illustrating technique and more than 80 diagrams of drills and strategies, making it easy to add new skills to your game. This truly is the book that players need to take their game to the next level. |

Montreal $11.94 Although this bold and dynamic acoustic guitar giant's stock in trade is the hybrid of rhumba flamenco, he's electrified smooth jazz audiences everywhere with one of the best live shows in any instrumental based genre. What could be more exciting than a whole hour of his trademark hits and other exotic classics performed in front of an audience in his native Canada? Recorded at the Metropolis Theater during Le Festival International de Jazz de Montreal, the 14 songs offer a smart mix of the lively clapalongs that have become his best-loved works ("Rattle and Burn," "Mario Takes a Walk") and more involved, intricate and dramatic Middle Eastern-tinged works from his later recordings. While "Closer to Madness" takes a few minutes to build, it offers a more introspective side of Cook's multifaceted work as we wait for the tune to explode. Likewise "Baghdad," whose brief solo passages in between the fun stuff show off his technical prowess and solo capabilities. While most live CDs simply include audience applause between cuts, most of these tracks have the audience participating via clapping, sometimes in ecstatic rhythm with the tune ("Luna Llena"). The most exciting moments of crowd/band synergy are the wild percussion passages on "Mario Takes a Walk," which elicit crowd whoops and hollers throughout. After all the craziness, the more graceful and folksy vocal ballad "Fall at Your Feet" (featuring Danny Wilde) provides a lovely, harmony laden parting souvenir. ~ Jonathan Widran, All Music GuidePerformers: Hampig Djavorian - Duduk; Gili Gurvitz - Tamborim; Frank Hayashi - Caixa; Tony Pierre - Tamborim; Negin Bairami - Surdo; Guiomar Campbell - Shaker; Danielle Lafond - Surdo; Greg Meleca - Surdo; Lyba Spring - Bells; Paolo Antonio - Drums; Paul Antonio - Drums; |

In Montreal $17.98 Bassist Charlie Haden has done a tremendous amount of playing in duo contexts (very little of it on the ECM label, however). This live recording with the remarkable pianist/guitarist Egberto Gismonti is a fine addition to his duo resumé. Recorded at The Montreal Jazz Festival in 1989 and released over a decade later, the album mostly features noted works by Gismonti, although two of Haden's pieces also appear. Gismonti plays guitar rather than piano on Haden's "First Song," making for an interesting comparison with the version that graced Beyond the Missouri Sky, Haden's 1997 duet record with Pat Metheny. Similarly, Gismonti's off-kilter piano solo on Haden's "Silence" contrasts richly with what Keith Jarrett played on the same tune (on 1977's Bop-Be). Gismonti's nylon-string stylings do recall Metheny to some degree, as well as ECM labelmate Ralph Towner, although his ten-string instrument sets his playing apart, particularly on the driving "Em Família." On piano, he's at his most virtuosic on "Lôro" and "Frevo." (A radically different version of the latter appeared on the album Friday Night in San Francisco, as a duet for guitarists John McLaughlin and Paco De Lucia.) ~ David R. Adler, All Music GuidePerformers: Charlie Haden - Double Bass; Egberto Gismonti - Guitar, Piano |
