Betting To Win $19.49 Based on an array of published and hitherto unpublished evidence, the author pinpoints techniques that will aid the bettor in formulating a successful and consistent betting strategy. The whole is presented in an informative but entertaining way, which should appeal to all those interested in betting as a hobby or as a way of earning a second income. Betting to Win covers: * The various forums that are available to UK residents for betting on the myriad of sports events, financial and specialist markets that are currently available. * Covers the wide variety of fixed-odds markets across the world, but also spread betting, pari-mutuel and Tote betting, and focuses also on the recent explosion of interest in person-to-person betting exchanges. It also identifies other novel betting mediums. * The latest academic and professional research on the operation and analysis of horseracing, greyhound racing, football betting and numerous other sports betting markets is collated, summarized and made accessible in a non-technical form. * Explores betting opportunities in less traditional markets. Sports Betting Rules
Betting is done through Sportsbooks (US) or Bookmakers (UK) entities that accept bets. You can bet on the outcome of several sporting events, such as; Baseball betting, Basketball betting, Football betting, Tennis betting, Hockey betting, Snooker and Soccer betting games. To place a sport bet, you go to a sportsbook, physical or online. You could also bet over the phone with many sportsbooks. Note that a sports book or sportsbook is not the same as an oddsmaker. The sportsbook simply accepts sports bets. An oddsmaker is a person who sets the sports betting odds. You need to state what you are betting on by making a selection, the type of bet and the amount you are wagering. Your selection will obviously depend on the odds offered, so you will want to examine the range of odds available before you make a decision. There are many types of bets you can place. Some sportsbooks may offer more betting varieties and combinations than others. Below is a list of the more common types of bets. Straight bet or Single. This is the simplest and most common bet. You bet on a winner at given odds. Point Spread. This bet lets you bet on a winner from two selections who have been made equal by allocating appropriate points to the underdog team. The Point Spread is the number of points allocated and is shown with a + sign for the favorite and a - sign for the underdog. The favorite has to win by more than the Point Spread for you to win; otherwise you lose your bet even if the team wins. Inversely, if you bet for the underdog, that team has to lose by less than the Point Spread for you to win. If the favorite wins by the exact Point Spread, then it is a push or a tie. You get your bet back. To eliminate a tie result, the oddsmakers sometimes include a half point spread. Since scores use full numbers only, one team has to win outright. Buy Points. Also, to buy Key Points. Move the Point Spread favorably at a price. The Money line. This establishes the odds for each team but inversely proportional to what would have been a Point Spread, and is indicated by a + for the underdog and a - sign for the favorite. Say team A is favorite and quoted at -180 and B is the underdog at + 120. The bets offered would be 10:18 odds-on for the favorite, and 12:10 for the underdog. For every $180 you bet on A you would win $100 or lose $180, but for every $100 you bet on B you would win $120 or lose $100. Total. A bet for the number of points scored in the game by both teams combined, including points scored in overtime. Over/Under. A bet that the combined number of points free sports scores by the two teams in the game will be Over or Under the total set by the oddsmaker. Parlay or Accumulator. A multiple bet. A kind of 'let-it-ride' bet. Making simultaneous selections on two or more games with the intent of pressing the winnings of the first win on the bet of the following game selected, and so on. All the selections made must win for you to win the parlay. If a game is a tie, postponed or cancelled, your parlay is automatically reduced by one selection; a double parlay becomes a straight bet, a triple parlay becomes a double. A parlay bet can yield huge dividends if won. Teaser. It is like a parlay, but with the option to add or subtract points (called 'moving the line') from one or more Spread bets. When betting a teaser additional points are either added to the underdog or subtracted from the favorite. The odds vary according to the number of points the spread is moved and the number of teams combined to form the teaser. As in the parlay, all selections must win for the teaser to win. Teasers odds are usually worse than the parlays. If-wager. A bet that allows the bettor to make a second wager, up to an equal amount, pending a win on the first selection. Open Wager. Open wagers allow the bettor to play teasers or parlays making a selection at different times and even different days. Future. A bet on a future event. At the start of each season, the sportsbooks give out odds for teams to win a certain championship. The odds change as the game date approaches and in most cases get shorter, but if you win you get paid at the original odds that you took. This is possibly one of the most profitable bets if you have considerable knowledge of the sport that you are betting on including the players, and a good sense of judgment. Exotic Bets. Betting on unusual events. Some sportsbooks post odds and take bets on a wide variety of other sports related events and activities. A few others will take bets on just about anything you can think of.
Proposition Bet or Prop Bet. An offer of bets at odds and conditions chosen by the sports book, usually on 'Exotic' bets.

what is your idea for turning the test game into a knockout format?
...so as to allow the best test team to be established by knock out rather than rankings.
perhaps you could have two tiers of 8 teams with promotion and relegation with a tennis style davis cup format where the winner, or higher ranked of the two drawn-match teams progresses to the next round [ the onus being on the lower ranked teams to beat the higher ranked team in order to progress]
this would culminate in a test champion showdown every 3 or 4 years.
whatever you think, dont you think cricket needs a contest of some sort every 3-4 years between the top two TEST teams to allow a champion team to be crowned by actually winning a game [or series] on the field?

ATP World Tour review for July
Defending champions Serbia will have in Sweden their obstacle towards the semifinals guided by their star Novak Djokovic who is having a wonderful year.
Moving into the second half of the season, July will have its own attractive despite no Masters 1000 or Grand Slams being disputed in that month. Variety is what will make of its 31st days appealing for fans, and it will be a great chance for young talents to start making a name of their own. While for the four nations that have made it into the Davies Cup Quarter-finals it will be a motivation to show off their patriotism.
July kicks off at the Campbell's Hall of Fame Tennis Championship in Newport, Rhode Island, which is also the last grass surface tournament of the season, and the only one in North America that is disputed in this type of court. After 35 editions the tournament is still looking for a top seed to claim title and put an end to what has become known as ‘the casino curse', moniker allusive to its location at the Newport Casino. American Mardy Fish is the defending champion, but it is John Isner who will try to break the course as the first top seed to clinch title from July 4-10.
Meanwhile from July 7-10 the 2011 World Group Quarter-finals will be held in two continents: America and Europe. In Buenos Aires, Argentina will receive Kazakhstan, and in Texas, U.S.A. will do the same with Spain. While in Stuttgart, Germany plays France, and in Halmstad, Sweden will try to stop the defending champions Serbia.
After a month of June exclusive for grass courts, the clay surface tournaments return on July 11 with the MercedesCup and the SkiStar Swedish Open. This type of surface has been dominated by Argentines and Spaniards in recent times, which will make of them the players to watch after.
Spaniard Alonso Montanes will defend title at the MercedesCup in Sttugart, Germany, which runs from July 11-17 in the clay courts of Tennis Club Weissenhof. There is a special bonus for the winner on top of the prize money: a Mercedes car. Russian Nikolay Davidenko will be the top seed, in what will be his fifth attempt to win in a tournament where he hasn't been able to make it past the semifinals.
At the same time, from July 11-17 the SkiStar Swedish Open will be disputed in Bastad, Sweden. This clay court event has been voted for the last eight consecutive years (2002-09) by players as the ATP World Tour 250 Tournament of the Year, recognition that pretty much speaks for itself about its dimensions. Defending champion Spaniard Nicolas Almagro will have his biggest menace in home favorite and top seed Robin Soderling.
The only ATP 500 tournament of the month, the bet-at-home Open - German Tennis Championships 2011, will have Hamburg vibrating when the fans pack the clay courts of the Rothenbaum Tennis Center from July 18-24. World No. 82 Andrey Golubev stunned everyone last year by becoming not only the first player from Kazakhstan to win the tournament, but also the first player form the country to win an ATP World Tour title.
In the same time, July 18-24 the Atlanta Tennis Championship will be held at Georgia's capital city, in what will be the first hard surface tournament of the month. 28 singles and 16 doubles will be disputing $531,000 in prize money. Its last edition gave fans an epic final, with a thrilling third-set-tie break between John Isner and Mardy Fish, which was won by Fish.
Switzerland and its wonderful landscape give a special ingredient to the Crédit Agricole Suisse Open Gstaad. This clay court event will be disputed from July 25-31 with Spaniard Nicolas Almagro as defending champion, who will try to become the first player since Sergi Bruguera in 1994 to win two consecutive titles.
The second event that will be disputed simultaneously will be the Farmers Classic, famous for being the longest running annual professional event in the city of Los Angeles. Its hard court was dominated last year by American Sam Querrey, who won his second title in a row, just like Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan did in doubles, which set a record in the tournament by being the first time in the its 84-year history that the singles and doubles champions defended their title successfully.
And the third tournament to be held from July 25-31 will be the ATP Studena Croatia Open. Its clay court saw Spaniard Juan Carlos Ferrero crowned as the 2010 champion over unseeded Potio Starace from Italy, who lost in two sets 6-4, 6-4. This tournament has contributed to increase tourism in the city of Umag, becoming a symbol of a high-quality summer spot.
The ATP World Tour will be saying goodbye to July at the Bet-At-Home Cup Kitzbühel in Austria. This will be the second before last clay court event of the season, which will be returning to the city after a one-year absence. Its last winner was Spaniard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in a tournament that since has been historically dominated by South American players.
With this review over what the ATP World Tour has scheduled for the month of July we say goodbye, but not without reminding you to stay tuned, for we'll go over what August has to offer sometime soon.

Rafel Nadal or Roger Federer, who's better player?
I've heard these interesting claims that Nadal would be better since he leads in the matches between the two.
But then again, Nadal is a 6-time Grand Slam winner (4 in French open, 1 Australian open win, 1 Wimbledon win), which is great, but Rog Fed's stats don't lie: 16 Grand Slam wins (WR), 22 grand slam finals (WR), 23 consecutive Grand Slam semifinals(WR), and so on. Also, 4 ATP World Tour Finals titles, and an all-time record of 26 ATP World Tour Masters 1000 finals. Moreover, he's holds the record of most consecutive weeks as nr .1 player in the world, 237 weeks. And he's just 2 weeks away from Pete Sampra's all-time record of most weeks as nr.1 in career(286, Fed: 284). And he's got the most earnings of all tennis players.
So, you could say that Federer is a record-breaker, historically amazing player. Nadal might dominate in French Open, but Fed takes the other three...
roger federer.
