Why is Olympic tennis generally an upset-filled, unpredictable event?

Seriously, the results tell all; they aren't results you'd expect in any other tournament.

actually it is not that upsetting, for the men's maybe but for the women it sought to be a level comparable to the slams

only in 2008 had the olympics a showcase of a top player winning a gold when rafa won the gold medal after his triumph over fed in wimby

reason? olympics is sandwhich between two great seasons of the year, after wimbledon and before the us open and it happens only after every four years....

there is a little time for players to adjust from the grass of wimbledon to the hard courts of the us open, adn now you put the olympics in question, past winners in the olympics that had good credentials is only andrei agassi in 1996 (even that win was a surprise for andrei was not doing that well in that year) and now rafa in 2008

to male players seem to be not on the occassion, time and scheduling, like olympics is held after two-three weeks aftwer wimbledon, and it's on a different surface, different venue; we all know a surface is a liability in tennis (barcelona in 1992 was clay, 1996 atlanta was hard courts); and even the famialarity of the courts is important in tennis too;

and one more thing, olympics adds more pressure to players, imagine having to represent your country and playing and winning a medal for not your own sake but for your country's sake, that must be a very heavy burden; the players are just overwhelmed

the women's side is different, top players had consistently since 1988 had won the tournament, steffi in 1988, capriati in 1992, davenport in 1996, venus in 2000, henin in 2004 and now elena in 2008; each of these women had reached all the semis of all the slams and had at least reached two finals and had at least won three slams except for dementieva!

How many of you want Australia to be replaced by some other team as the no.1 cricket team?

I am absolutely bored of them. There is too much domination by one team which is ruling cricket now for more than a decade. This is ridiculous & makes me sick. I don't dislike aussies but their domination is just destroying the game. Great Ian Chappel also said during the world cup that it was a joke that Australia has not lost a single game in the last 2 world cups which was not good for the game at all. Thank God tennis has become interesting with the emergance of rafael nadal to counter Federer. I hope the same happen to cricket as soon as possible

Yes, other teams should beat them. They have been dominating the cricket world for many years now. They had great bowlers like Warne, Mcgrath and still they have Ponting, Hussey, Clark, Hayden, Lee and Gilchrist. They have bunch of great players.
