Celebrities That Love a Round of Golf
Golf is an immensely popular sport these days; even professional golfers are now household names such as Colin Montgomerie, Jack Nicklaus and of course Tiger Woods. In the past ten or fifteen years golf has risen in popularity to the point that the sport is now played by men women and children at a competitive level.
It is no surprise then that there are a number of celebrities both male and female who enjoy a round of golf, the quiet of the golf course and no paparazzi lurking in the bushes can be just what a movie star or pop star would look for when trying to escape their hectic lifestyle.
One such person is Samuel L Jackson, Jackson is famous for featuring in many iconic movies such as Pulp Fiction and the Star Wars prequels but away from the big screen Samuel L spends much of his time on the golf course and has a golf handicap of 6 to show for it. Another Hollywood actor that shares a 6 handicap is Dennis Quaid, Dennis was named as the Top Hollywood Golfer by golfing magazine Golfer's Digest and hosts an annual charity golf event as well.
Sports stars in different fields are also fond of a game of golf every now and then, Basketball Icon Michael Jordan as well as a short stint playing professional baseball also loves to play golf, golf may even be Michael's second best sport as his handicap of 2 shows that since hanging up his basketball shoes he has been keeping busy on the golf course. One other star that may have an unfair advantage on the golf course is Tennis Ace Pete Sampras, many years of grand slam wins (of which he has 14) has helped Pete whittle his handicap down to between one and four.
Some other stars that you may never have guessed enjoy a round of golf include Canadian singer Celine Dion, model Jodie Kidd and even the hell raising Alice Cooper! Alice who may seem more at home holding a snake than a golf club has competed in many celebrity tournaments and has even written a book on the sport "Golf Monster: My 12 Steps to Becoming a Golf Addict" showing that he truly enjoys playing golf when he's not on tour.
Golf isn't just for celebrities though, as previously mentioned golf has increased in mass appeal in recent years and so you may find that you too want to take up golf for a new hobby or play against your friends. With many deals on equipment as well as the costs of golfing helping you get into the game now is the perfect time to take to the fairways.
If you are looking to lower your handicap like the celebrities mentioned in this article then get your official golf handicap recognized and get free golf lessons online.
